Overview

YUHU is a character-based messaging app from YUHU Studios. It allows users to create a profile and send short animated messages to other users.

We collect and process only the information reasonably required to provide, protect and improve the YUHU service. We do not sell personal information.

Information We Collect

Account and Profile Information

When you create or use a YUHU account, we may collect:

  • Your display name and username

  • Your email address or sign-in identifier, if required for account access

  • Your profile preferences and selected settings

  • A unique account identifier

Please do not include sensitive personal information in your username or profile.

Messages

To deliver messages, YUHU processes:

  • The content of messages you send

  • Sender and recipient account identifiers

  • Delivery and read status

  • Relevant dates and times

  • The character, animation or effect selected for the message

YUHU messages are designed to disappear approximately three minutes after they are opened. Message information may be retained for longer when reasonably necessary to investigate a report, prevent misuse, meet legal obligations or protect users and the service.

Notifications and Technical Information

YUHU may process a device notification token so that it can notify you when a message arrives.

We may also process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as app version, device type, operating-system version, error information and security events.

YUHU does not use this information for third-party targeted advertising.

Reports and Blocks

If you report another user or a message, we may retain information connected with that report, including the reported content, account identifiers and the reason for the report.

Information about blocked users is retained so that YUHU can enforce your blocking preferences and help prevent further unwanted contact.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage user accounts

  • Deliver and display messages

  • Send message notifications

  • Apply disappearing-message functionality

  • Remember app settings and preferences

  • Operate reporting and blocking tools

  • Investigate misuse and enforce our Community Guidelines

  • Maintain the security and reliability of YUHU

  • Respond to support and privacy enquiries

  • Comply with applicable legal obligations

How Information Is Shared

Information may be processed by service providers that help us operate YUHU, such as providers of account authentication, database hosting, message delivery, notifications and technical infrastructure.

These providers may process information only as required to supply their services to YUHU and are subject to their own security and privacy obligations.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with the law, respond to a lawful request, protect a person’s safety, investigate misuse or defend our legal rights.

We do not sell or rent users’ personal information.

Data Storage and Retention

Account information is retained while your account remains active and for a limited period afterward when required for security, dispute resolution or legal compliance.

Messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for delivery and operation of YUHU’s disappearing-message feature, except when a message has been reported or retention is otherwise required for safety or legal reasons.

Reports and safety records may be retained for longer when needed to investigate misuse, enforce restrictions or protect users.

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your YUHU account and associated personal information using the account-deletion option in the app.

When an account is deleted, information associated with it will be deleted or de-identified unless retention is reasonably required for security, fraud prevention, reported-content investigations or compliance with legal obligations.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

No internet-based service can guarantee complete security. Users should avoid sending highly sensitive or confidential information through YUHU.

Children’s Privacy

YUHU is not intended for children below the minimum age stated in its App Store listing. We do not knowingly permit children below that age to create accounts or knowingly collect their personal information.

If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this policy, please contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information.

You may also:

  • Change your profile information and preferences

  • Disable notifications through your device settings

  • Block other users

  • Report inappropriate messages or behaviour

  • Delete your account

  • Contact us with a privacy enquiry or complaint

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

Third-Party Services

YUHU may rely on third-party infrastructure for authentication, data storage, notifications and message delivery. Their handling of information is governed by their respective privacy policies as well as their agreements with YUHU Studios.

A current list of the principal service providers used by YUHU will be maintained in this policy where required.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when YUHU’s features, service providers or legal obligations change. Any revised policy will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.

Material changes may also be communicated through the app where appropriate.
